Tuesday so so..........

Regular day - no excitement.

Had a couple of nurserymen visit who were attending a Farm Bureau meeting.
We had a nice visit in the greenhouse.
They were impressed because I was in the greenhouse working and everyone else they knew were not in at all. I played that up a little. I had just arrived 5 minutes before they showed up.

We just finished a nice rain shower.

I need to leave 10 minutes early to send my mother a small adenium plant. She is my west coast cultivar screener. I am glad she did not screen me out early - they were plenty of reasons that is for sure.

Another Monday...............

Settling down now and doing some writing.
New boss has been pretty much invisible - is this good or bad?
Maybe it is because of the heat and humidity outside.

Have several new experiments on the agenda.
Need to generate data on some new plants.

Greenbean motor on hold as a problem with pistons has surfaced.
Nothing is easy ---- or cheap.

Mowed the grass for the forth time this year.
Not bad actually - glad we do not water or fertilize it.
It looks great to me.

Looking ahead...................

Soon it will be October and the Tithonia will be showing its stuff...
Cooler weather too...
Can't wait...

Hopefully the Greenbean (with new engine) will be showing its stuff too....

Back to the ZZZZZ.................

My life is not "all plants all the time".
Yesterday Al and Scott were putting Al's new motor together in the Z shop.
They really know what they are doing.
It was good practice since in a week or two we will be assembling my new motor.
Of course my motor is not going to be stock and the boys in the machine shop were asking me over and over when I talked about shaving the head plus other things "You want to do what?"
It did nothing for my confidence --- but I cannot be stopped.
Besides, Scott will make it work.

Below is Al's motor pretty much assembled minus the front cover.
This has always been something that interested me.
Now a dream is becoming reality.
Wonder if it will work. The Greenbean will never be the same.

Foliage Plants on Display..............

Below are a couple of photos of tropical foliage plants installed at a local hotel. They really can make a beautiful difference.

PS -- At the rate they currently are destroying trees all along my drive to work these may be the only plants left in Florida eventually. It is just pathetic. There are no more orange trees along "Orange Blossum Trail" at least as far as I can see.

This is a cute thing...........

I am not sure what this plant is or where it came from but I really like it. We will need to find a use for it eventually.

I think it is some sort of vine..........

Here is a first for me.............

Philodendron selloum is a great plant. It can grow in full sun or dense shade indoors or out. It can even tolerate mild freezes. Gee what is wrong with the one below.
These plants have been stripped by Texas lubber grasshoppers. It is quite amazing to see. Note the little rascals working on the next generation of eaters.

Pothos is in the ground

and growing. Once they are up the poles we hope they flower one day to enable pollinaton. Flowering is a very rare event and we can only keep our fingers crossed that these plants do flower one day. Hey - we may get lucky................

Random Work Photos............

This past month has been good for Agalonema pollinations. Below is the actual spot where this action transpires. It is sort of messy but these pollinations are very tedious and require various tools and accessories - and a lot of patience. Oh, did I say it is rather WARM in the greenhouses these days.
