Plugged In.................

Some new bermuda grass clumps are ready to spread if it ever rains. Bermuda grass is cool since it will turn brown in a drought and then will green up really fast once water comes. If it ever comes. The same is true for bahia grass of course.

Mosaic Mom's Pot and Salsa a Hit...........

Here is my loyal crew at work enjoying Mosaic Mom's latest creations - Plant Daddy Pot #2 and her version of Salsa Supreme................ Looks like no greenhouse work today since they will not leave the salsa.
It is nice to have a crew that enjoys the good things in life. They loved the pot and it will remain on center stage in the lab. Too bad it is my photo on the pot........but nothing in life is perfect. They think MM is really cool. She is..............

The CNS Gaillardia Germplasm Collection........

Several years ago while surf fishing at the Canaveral National Seashore I discovered a garden planting of Gaillardia at the visitors center. There were several types that I had never seen before. So on a later trip I collected several seed. We now happily grow the offspring at home and are busily dispersing the seed and plants. On a trip back to CNS this spring the planting was gone. I sure was happy that I still have the germplasm at home.

So we like to say that we are preserving the CNS Gaillardia germplasm as part of our regular gardening routine. Below is a few of the lines we have.

The bougainvilla and the steel daisy are doing well at home right now.
In the background is the large fruited loquat that we enjoy each year.

To Be FREE and not To Be FREE......

that is fact - not the question. Especially since I am tetering between assertive and aggressive today (not my usual thing). I will try to stick to assertive. Therefore:

I requested that Mosaic Mom and I be given free admission to the field trials at Gainesville next week. --- Still waiting for an answer.
Since my crew is spending a day taking plants up there and I was to be a presentor for a "show and tell" session, I believe that is a reasonable request.
If they say no then we will be "FREE" and go fishing (or look at art) instead.
Sounds like a win/win to me.
Besides, I was told we get no raises this year so it is an excercise in futilitly anyway - except for visiting with the growers who may be there.
So it is wait and see for now - assertive may be a good thing.

Monday................

Slow day today............at least I am slow...........
Cool and windy..........
Went surf fishing Friday and did pretty well.........
Last chance this year as it is too hot now........

With the wind howling I pity anyone in line of fires down here.
The skies east of here are full of smoke.
I do not see how they can be stopped.
Only can hope none start by my home.
Oh brother.

One Physical is over and............doctors can be on time..

Finished my annual physical today.....
All blood test etc... results were good --- really good....
Next week it is eyes.........
Then to the dermatologist.......

Why am I doing this?
I need to be in top fighting form when the new boss arrives July 1.
He is in for a suprise.
We old guys will fight to the finish.
Maybe I can outlast boss number 5.
This one is no gimme though.

The New Doctor -- this doctor (thanks to referral from mosaic mom) is on time. My appt. was for 10:00 and I walked in office at 9:57 and was taken to exam room at 10:01. Doc appeared at 10:04. We had a nice discussion about my test results and he did the finger thing....grrrr....I congratulated him on being prompt. He said it should be that way and that if he gets 15 minutes behind schedule he get edgy. With someone like this I am more likely to go back to discuss little problems since it is easy. I left the office at 10:24. Amazing...... He is my new hero......see world doctors can be on time if they choose.

The Old Doctor -- go for a 1:30 pm appt. Sit in cramped waiting room with 10 other sick people for 2.0 hours before he sees you. Lucky to get home in time for 5:00 pm supper. Go back in a week to check the new disease I picked up sitting in his waiting (I should call it his disease incubation room) room. He is no longer my doctor.....
