Heartleaf Philodendron 'Frilly Philly' = New Cultivar

Below is a new heartleaf philodendron cultivar named 'Frilly Philly'. A plant patent application has been submitted for it. This is a purposely induced mutation from the standard heartleaf philodendron (Philodendron scandens oxycardium). It is small, stable and does really well under interior conditions. Hopefully great things will happen with this plant. After testing and growing it for 4 years I am convinced of its great potential.

I can be grown as small table top plant, a small hanging basket or trained on a totem pole (see photos below).

Above: 'Frilly Philly' on a totem pole -it then can be decorated for Christmas as an interior ever living tree. Unlimited potential here for creative marketing.

Above: 'Frilly Philly' in a 4-inch pot makes a great window or desk top plant.

Tampa and Bradenton Trip......no fishing......

Went with a nursery friend to Tampa and Bradenton to visit 2 nurseries yesterday. The plants were amazing....but OMG it was hot and humid so close to the beaches.....

Next thing I new we were on the skyway bridge going into Tampa....That was fun but terrorizing. But I got to see the miles of fishing piers by the bridge..... Of course I had no bait or fishing gear either......must be smarter next time (see photo below)... Next trip I am going alone and it could take days.....

Then we hit the 3:30 traffic going thru Tampa........'nuff said.....I am a little tired today but the trip was good.....only travel I am doing today is from office to greenhouse and back.

OBTW.....it is really raining hard here today at 12:28 pm......hope the sun does not come out later.

I am all EAR...........

My foxtroting EAR still is not cured.........actually it seemed a little worse today.........
So I called the Doc. who is supposed to call back.....no appt. available and a 3 day weekend coming.
So I moaned to my lab tech (she knows alot about meds.) who said I needed a different decongestant (i.e. something with psuedoephredin in it)....so I went to Publix and got Cariton D 24 hour (double the a.i.) stuff from the pharmacist behind the counter and got to sign all the papers, etc.. The pharmacist said that the other stuff I was taking would not help drainage.....So now I am on a real decongestive mission and see if that helps.
Anyway maybe there is hope afterall.........and maybe I think I will be nicer to my lab assistant in the future....

Rain in May brings Grass in June.........

Well this week we have had about 11 inches (Monday thru Thursday) and it still is cloudy and more to come (maybe).

My ear is still cloudy also but may be starting to clear - not sure there either. At least I did not hear echoes last night so maybe that is good.

Made a couple of gutter cleaning tools that turned a miserable job into a fun one......I may photograph them for later. Life is about thought patterns - 'take' what comes or 'make' what comes. I really like the 'make' part when it comes to tools that make things easier.

Back at work and all is quiet. Plants in greenhouse tend to stretch with a week of cloudy and rain and warm. Anyway, being up and able to 'do' is a gift.

Ear and Throat and Rain.....

Sore throat and head aches are gone but I am still fighting my first ear infection in the last 45 years... Taking antibiotics but there is still some pressure. I get to hear Mosaic Mom in stereo/echo. That is kind of fun but I have had enough.

At least my energy is back to normal so something is better. It is so sad to spend daylight hours in bed. Anyway, things looking better and I am back at work. This in itself may lead to relapse.....

It is really rainy now 2+ inches since yesterday. It suddenly went into the summer pattern last week. Good for the trees and grass. YEAH, now I get to fight the mowers...

The photo below is not my ear but similar... it is a cutaway view of a mandeville flower showing anthers and tip of style - if you know where to look.

Yellowish Amaryllis...........

Time to be cheerful.......
This amaryllis has beening doing well for a few years in the parking lot at work....
It flowers after most of the common ones are done....

That is a tick flower at its base. Sweet............

FOXTROT.............

as in Whiskey - Tango - Foxtrot...............i.e. wtf.........

Mosaic Mom and I have one thing in common.........we EXPECT to get up every day and carry out whatever our plan is for that day.......now my plans may start are little quicker (since I fizzle out by 3:00 pm like a hot can of pepsi) in the day than MM but by midnight we both have got our stuff done..........

Now thanks to sick people at work spreading their crap I am a little off line due to my immune system having to work overtime.......So far in my life the IMMUNES always win in pretty short order......That is a blessng from my Mom and Dad........Anyway, it really iritates me when people come to work sick.....at least here, they do very little other than wonder around and look for sympathy I guess....they all must not like it at home for some reason........so today I must restrain my basic anger and move on with a sickly smile......

Besides.....I am at work and making a list of who I can contaminate.......that only seems fair......

Afterall I want to be like everyone else .........excuse me someone is coming and I am sure they will lend me sympathetic ear......
