"NO I'm Teaching".............

Teaching takes a lot of time and a lot of organizational work..............that is bad for me........
But there are edvantages............for example.....

MosaicMom - "hi plantdaddy did you blog today?" .........."NO I'm teaching" ...........
My Boss - did you get your annual report done? .........."NO I'm teaching" ...........
My greenhouse/lab coordinator "May I ask you a question .........."NO I'm teaching" ...........

It goes on and on.......

Do I get to go fishing? .........."NO I'm teaching" ...........
How about some quality time in the Z-Shop? .........."NO I'm teaching"

Mosaic Mom (again) ...."Plantdaddy, can you come home early for Fried Chicken today? "

Ok so I am skipping class tonight...............see ya.............

Miserable Cold Again....Windy Too.........

This is the big one.........miserable cold with 20 mph winds.......bird bath frozen solid.......

28 degrees last night............mid 20's tonight with hard frost..........should mean less wind though so we can cover the 2 small citrus trees and run the mist under them.....

Tomorow night will be near freezing again.....

Should have some nice ice pictures tomorrow............

All and all 3 miserable days........at least the weekend will be in the 70's...........we are on the 7 day weather pattern cycle now.......

Teaching and the Cold..........

It was 33 degrees with frost in the field this morning.....
....supposed to be in the 30's for the next three mornings.........
I hate the cold.......brrrrrrrrrrr...........foxtrot..........

Get to teach again this spring..........have 8 students (above) ...........however it is a fine group of students and they are easy going and calm.........I like them........we are going to have fun.......what did I say........oh brother maybe I am weakening in my old age.........

We had better have fun since I have to entertain them for 2 hours in lab instead of only one.....This is proving a challenge to my creative genes (or gene).....but then again some ideas are starting to flower and it will be ok...........

Happy 90th to My Mother...........

Here is my mom at 89.89 years of age....Today she is 90.0... She is still shaper than me for sure... Whatever amount of success I have had in life I owe to her and my dad for all of the sacrifices they made for me..... Thanks Mom.....
She is having chocolate chip mint ice cream this afternoon.....my all time favorite.....

Squeaky Shoes.............

Happy New Year.............squeak.....

Late last year I bought a new pair of shoes.........they squeaked...........that is not good for someone who prefers the "quiet approach" to life.......at work I soon got tired of people greeting me, based on the "Henny Squeak" without looking up every time I passed their offices.

So last week I bought 2 more pairs of shoes...........I could not believe that they squeaked when I walked around home on the concrete, on sand, on grass.......Good God I cannot even buy a pair 'squeakless' shooes I moaned to myself......In desperation I ground them into sand on concrete trying to wear off the squeak..........I bent them up like pretzels to stop it..........all to no avail.....

So in dispair and with a "to hell if it squeaks of not attitude" I wore them to work today (but had left an old dirty backup pair in the car) expecting the worst.......Miracle of miracles.....They DO NOT Squeak on our floors.....so now I am back to my old ways of sneaking around in silence.....I learn so much more that way......in fact you will not believe this one
