Forget Fishing - Back to Plants - 2008 TPIE Photos
Spent a day at the Tropical Plant Industry Exposition in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida last Friday. Got to see several of my hybrids on display and lots of other goodies. Below are some...
Above is Aglaonema 'Silver Bay' (my baby) - it was all along the lobby of the convention center in planters. That was a pretty strong statement I would say.
Above is an orchid flower arrangement by people from Thailand.
Above is a plant that Mosiac Mom is writing about - gee I forgot its name. I guess I had better read her article.

Something Fishy Going On...........
in my mind...........
On or about January 10, 2006 was are really great day of surf fishing......Cooler full of tasty fish in three hours....
Suddenly I am getting the urge to try again.....maybe it could be the 2 year anniversary thing......the water is looking better and it may be time to go before gas hits $4.00 a gallon........this could be the last chance....
Now it is back to work so a path can be cleared for some fun.......just the thought (i.e. dream) for the day..............
PS.....the greenbean is running great and the new music CD made from Mosaic Mom's Ipod list is awesome..........what a ride.........or flight should I say.....
......just kidding.....

We got lucky....................
I am amazed..........
We had 28 degrees and windy for several hours (January 2)and 95 percent of plants show no damage.
Loquats and developing fruit are fine.
Oranges are fine.
Jatropha are fine (even the ones in an open field exposed directly to wind.
Avacodos even look good.
Brasilian cloak - the big one (7 feet by 7 feet) got hurt bad but the small one (4 feet by 3 feet in different location) looks good.
Jasmine with new growth looks fine.
I guess we won't have to do much replanting at all.
Lucky is the word of the day.
Hopefully I will still feel this way in couple of days............

28 Degrees this morning.............
Cold and windy last night and this morning.
Just plain nasty.
It was probably freezing from 11:00 pm to 10:00 am.
Not as low a temperature as feared but I am sure there will be plenty of brown foliage appearing in the next few days.
I am hopeful the loquats and oranges made it ok.
Avacados and tomatoes = Toast.
Onions = not sure.
Pineapples = hopeful.
Green Beans = should be good.
However only time will tell.
Photos to follow.

Loquats this year.........maybe not..........Freeze tonight
Mosaic Mom and I love our loquats - especially the big (2 inch diameter) and sweet ones we get....But the big hard freeze tonight my take our crop.......all the fruit are about 1/2 inch in diameter...
Hell I am worried about all the smaller trees we have planted that are in a growth spurt - that is to become they WERE in a growth spurt. Oh well it will be 75 degrees in a couple of days and that always helps promote the smell of decaying plant tissue.
Forget the avocados = toast.....
Hey this will create an opportunity for some before and after (the freeze) photos...Of course I hate to think about redoing the landscape again...Our landscape was raped by the power company 2 years ago and now mother nature is going to do her thing.
Grrrrrrrrrr... or better yet Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
