Hey.......What Happened........????????????

Holly %#$%.........I just walked outside and about died. It was spring when I left home this morning........but now it is summer...........Well it was a nice 2 hours of Spring that we had.......Oh brother now I guess it is time for some office work.......Forget about planting the new broccoli and cauliflower plants.......better go for the okra.....such is life in Florida.....at least the green beans will grow now..........until the bugs come........oh brother..

Today it feels real...
Quiet at work. No zip. No noise. No excitement....
This when my paranoia starts to kick in...
They are all out to get me..........
Oh well, the plants look good and it is warm outside.

I could liven things up but it takes too much energy.
So I will rest and stay on computer.
Think I will check the Orlando Magic "fire the coach' message board...
Ahhh Game tonight --- Mosiac Mom is already feeling sorry for me.
Think I will go and look at my plant babies......
The cycle of life continues.

Jury Duty..................

arrived at 7:30.
went to check in but had to go back and fill in back of form.
this time I passed.
Sat around until 8:00.
Then the loud perky cocky lady spoke - she thought she was cute.
Then the video - every nationality possible was in it.
Then the judge spoke - he must be running for office.
An hour later 24 people called to go for first jury panel.
I was lucky.
Sat 2 more hours.
At 9:30 came the news that 1st case closed dut to plea bargain.
Only one case left.
At 11:00 came the news that the 2nd defendant did not show.
Yeah defendant.
We got to go home at 11:30.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
I am safe for another year.

Its Monday Already...........2007 Update

Its Monday.
Have to finish my annual report.

Spent all day Sat. and Sun. working on grad. student's thesis - it was tough but we made great progrss. I feel good about that and of course mosaic mom was there to help break the stalemate with her great writing skills and this statement "I can't understand this stuff the way it is written". It worked for me........YEAH for MM.

Have tour this afternoon with a local politician - not fun - funny how our administrators seem to disappear when times get tough.
I am a researcher not a 'show horse'.
Why not pay me like a show horse if that is what you want.

Oh yeah - another candidate is interviewing for center director today - the annual report comes first though.

Jury duty tomorrow - boy I just love that.

Wednesday will be the first nice warm day in 2 weeks. Wouldn't you know that Gee - I get to teach from 5-8:00 and will miss the whole evening with mosaic mom.

I have had it with 2007 already.

Holy S--- It Is Thursday Again.........

D--- things are going too fast. Life is too complicated and busy. Maybe I will just make this a Thursday Blog....

We interviewed the first candidate for director yesterday. Got a free lunch (yeah) and some interesting conversation to listen to. It is really amazing what people will say to make a good impression. Even after 30 years of hearing this stuff it is still impressive. VANITY knows no bounds. Geez we get to do this 4 more times. I should have everyone's stories down by then. I did not say much but did enjoy the show. We have NO say in who is hired so no use getting emotionally involved. Once they get here they will learn the REAL story.

Work is hectic but good. Plants are great since they are what they are - end of story. NO bragging or misleading on their part. Of course my hopeful triploids turned out to be tetraploids today and that was disappointing. Now for some photos.

Holy S*** It's Thursday Already.........

Forgot all about blogging due to actually working these days. What a difference a year makes. Last winter I got to go surf fishing a few times and had fabulous luck. Not so this year - have not even tied a line. The poles just hang and stare at me as to say "Are we going fishing this week plant daddy?". Oh hell no, I have too much to do.

Monday - went to Gainesville and gave foliage breeding lecture (10 students).
Tuesday - had a conference call at work regarding an article describing Dr. Chen's and my research on pothos somatic embrogenesis. Pollinated and worked in the research greenhouse which is getting overgrown.
Wednesday - pollinated, cleaned greenhouses and taught the annual and perennial class from 5-8:00. Revieded paper for Dr. Chen.
Thursday - pollinated and now have the greenhouse crew potting, moving. propagating and cleaning in the main research house. Must read grad student thesis this pm.
Friday - (tomorrow) meet graduate student at 7 am to discuss thesis rewrite. His final exam is in about a month.

Grrrrrr......Next week I am going fishing.................period...................
