Aglaonema 'Silver Bay' on CNN...........

While channel surfing last night I came across Wolf Blitzer on CNN interviewing Barack Obama. Over Blitzer's left shoulder was a large plant that was very obvious in the picture. It was Aglaonema 'Siver Bay' ...i.e. my baby......!!!!! I believe that the site was Obama's office (see photo of Siver Bay in previous blog below).

So we now know that this man does have good taste in plants - maybe if he wins the election some day he will want an entire collection of my aglaonema babies. Hey Barack - I deliver...

At least it is nice to see one of my children make the big time - in a quiet way - but it was the big time nevertheless.

Back on Blogger Track........Animal Control Needed

Fixing the golf cart again. This time it is the solenoid. Last time it was the forward and reverse gears. The time before that it was the resistance speed control unit. But I was able to fix it and now have work on all electrical aspects of the cart. This has led to a substantial photo collection of the cart parts. The photos are essental for me getting things back together. So far it has worked great. The solenoid is the cylindrical thing in the center with the red and the yellow wire attached to it. The old one stuck open = cart keeps moving if in gear because power never really shuts off. Like an irrigation solenoid that doesn't shut off and the sprinklers keep running. When I think of it that way I get it.

This moring our big nursery pump was coming on and off. It was due to a racoon climbing our faucet to get at the loquats during the night. He stepped on the shut off and pushed it to the open position so that the hose was running this morning. Hmmmmm loquats plus wasting water may push the "animal control" unit into action.

Finally Finished..............

My masters degree student (Jim) had his final oral exam yesterday and passed.
He is happy and I am happy - we had spent a lot of time together the past 3 months.
I will miss him stopping by after work and on weedends - all in a state of panic.
I won't miss spending all weekend rewriting the thesis.
My assurances that he would do fine fell upon unhearing ears.
Of course under the bravado I was nervous as hell too.
Needless to say Mosaic Mom was a major help in making our writing attempts understandable.
Thank you MM for your unwavering support.
But we are finished, bonded like father and son and off to do new works of wonder.
Thank God.
Now I can try and fix my golf cart again, work in the garden, go fishing???, and generally relax a little more.

Got to see one of my favorite ones flower this week.

They are really pretty and the flowers lasted for 3 days.
Hope to have more flowering soon.

I Did It Again............

The charger for my golf cart at work would not charge the cart.
This has gone on for 3 days.
Finally found a similar charger and it would not charge the cart either.
Therefore knew it was not the charger.
Took cart to our shop and removed seat.
One wire was corroded off and the other hanging by a thread.
The broken one was connected to the charger port.
The other still was good enough so that the main circuit worked and the cart ran.
So we saved at least $150 and two trips to the golf cart repair shop.
YEAH....it is fun to find and solve a problem.
This is one of the better Thursdays in a while.
Everything else is fine also. Oh yeah - the "it again" means to fix a golf cart...........
How long will this last????????????????
