Gynura sarmentosa (Velvet Plant)..................

Below are some photos of some Gynura types that I have collected.......They are pretty nice and I have always enjoyed the color..........not the smelly flowers though.....or the mealybugs that they tend to attract............

Pretty good day today..........working on refreshing some old Spathiphyllum hybrids.........a few crosses are on the way........
Also harvested a nice batch of POTHOS pollen this AM and have one more flower coming to hopefully pollinate in a few days...........

That is pretty good for a Monday..........a least the AM rain left and the sun is glowing now.....

Getting to the ROOT of the Problem.......

Below is a photo of an interspecific Dieffenbachia hybrid that I have kept for years........It is a beautiful plant and has some russett coloring in the stems and petioles......

However this plant hardly makes any roots..........they are always short, brown and pathetic......
I want to discard it for that reason but can't bring myself to do it......

With new plants there always seems to be some sort of hitch..........a missing link.......an inherited problem......grrrrrrrrrr..........

It has be left alone, repropagated using my best techniques, potted in the best soils, put in ideal growing conditions, treated for root rot, etc. and nothing seems to help.....anyway it is a pretty plant and this is probably the only way anyone can ever enjoy it........so ENJOY it..........and again...........grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I Guess I Like Yellow Plants.......

Below are a few plants from my research greenhouse..........It seems that I am always drawn to yellow..........my mother likes yellow too.........must be hereditary..........

Finally warming up...............but.............

it was still 48 degrees this morning...............wtf............

Tomorrow they say 80 degrees............we will see...........at least the corn should then start growing.........

The strawberries in the greenhouse are looking better..........we may get some late fruit........at least enough for some of Mosaic Mom's famous jam......

Budget cuts are the talk at work............looks grim........next year will be worse..........we can only wait and see.......

Oh well, the sun is shining and the whiting are biting............always good news it you look under the right rock............

MARCH MADNESS.................

Generally I like to be positive and enjoy the day working with my plant babies..............and I do have some really neat ones at this time..........

HOWEVER, my babies are suffering from the cold and I am pissed about that.........it is time for some warmth down here............It was 48, cloudy, damp and required at stocking hat and scarf again this morning..........in fact it is 2:00 pm and still cold..........whiskey tango foxtrot..........this is MARCH....................now I know what is meant by MARCH MADNESS...........

All my tires are spinning, everything is on hold.......progress is nonexistant.......grrrrrrrrr......

Hopefully next week I will be complaining about the heat............please..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still Wore a Hat and Scarf this Morning.........

St. Pat's Day and I still had to wear a stocking hat and a scarf this morning.............it was cloudy and in the 40's.................yuck.............worst winter ever............There as not been a total of one weeks worth of good days this year so far...........

The new corn is yellow as are the green beans...........they won't change color unless it warms up.....especially the nights.................brrrrrr.....

Had to wait 7 minutes to get out of driveway this morning due to roadwork (this adventure is well documented by Mosaic Mom).........had to time the traffic flow so it was going in the correct direction.........It will be fun going home too..........however the road crews have been good to us so I cannot complain.....they have one tough job..........

240Z Painting Project.............

Windy as hell but we painted the 240z race car this past weekend........Lots of dust and bugs but that is the way it goes sometimes...The sequence is below.........The white painting was done a month ago.....

Masking of the white racing stripes....

Applying the forest green body paint........it was free............

The final result after 10 hours of work...........we need to get a paint booth next time.......but this was the 6th car we have painted here.....

It turned out pretty good and should look fine once all the parts are put together......... It is handling and speed, not "pretty" that counts with this car.............

Spring in the Research Greenhouse......

It is sunny and warm so you are looking at tropical plants that are ready to grow.....I hope...

Lasts long with the perfect weather and perfect water conditions.............

Gee I wonder if it will ever be that good again.....................one can hope now that the weather is finally getting better.........

Looks Like Spring is Here.........Finally........

Hooray for Spring.......temps in the 70's and lows out of the 30's and 40's..........the was 37 yesterday and 40 this morning.....

Plants will green up and grow once the LOW temps stay above 50 degrees......that is more important than the highs actually.......

The Adenium seeds planted in January rotted...........therefore, I was afraid all my adenium seeds from last fall did not store well and were dead......however the newly planted ones are germinating just fine......another affect of cold temperatures I assume.......

Z Shop busy Yesterday.............

All the boys showed up yesterday in the Z shop.........

I really like the maroon Z-cart in the foreground.....real quiet and a great workhorse....

It was a nice sunny (although almost cold) day....still cauliflower and broccli weather though.....

We had a nice day and got the oil changed in the Toyota.....can't always be a Z-car purist you know.....The Toyo.. may be ready for a trip in the near future.....time will tell........
